I have had the opportunity to work with Fern on two different occasions: a micro mural and a custom canvas. Both times have been quick, communicative, and such a great experience. Fern is a wonderful artist and also a wonderful person to work with. I really felt like they made both pieces so special. I have also purchased some of Fern's work during arts walk exhibits, and I plan to continue my collection.

We came to Fern with an idea of a mural that captured our love of native plants and birds, and she delivered something so beautiful! She was so easy to work with, courteous, and tidy. Hiring Fern was one of the best decisions we made for our home. The process was thoughtful, collaborative, and incredibly professional from beginning to end. Over the past 12 months, Fern has created not one but two extraordinary murals with our school community, and the experience was nothing short of a gift. Fern’s patience and calm presence set the tone for everything: they listened first, took every detail to heart, and adjusted designs to truly reflect the voices of our teachers, parents, and most of all, young students.  Fern’s ability to welcome young children as real collaborators and creators was a true gift. Fern never wavered in their calmness even amid the beautiful chaos of working alongside kindergartners and first graders. Fern’s communication was clear and consistent throughout, and the work stayed on schedule and within timeline every step of the way. Beyond the art itself, Fern provided thorough documentation that met our grant criteria with ease.

It has been such a joy teaming with Painter Fern on multiple student-directed mural projects. Our first experience with Painter Fern was for a culminating project after a thematic unit of study with two classes of k/1 students; students had spent the year studying the connections between salmon forest health and the health of our southern resident killer whales. Students decided to convey their learning to the community through a mural, and Fern jumped in with enthusiasm! With Fern's guidance and expertise, they opened up every step of their process for collaboration and student direction; they captured student thinking to inform a draft, used student feedback to refine and edit a final design, and safely and effectively lead small groups of 5-7 year olds through every aspect of painting! Every one our of 45 students contributed to the project, and now they have a legacy that captures their learning AND beautifies the school community. I couldn't recommend teaming with Painter Fern, more- it was a joyful and empowering experience for students!

I met Fern when she painted the side of my neighbors house. It was so beautiful I ran across the street to meet her! I immediately started dreaming up all of the things we could have muralized on our house. We started with the inside and outside of our front door. It makes us so happy, and is such a wonderful conversation starter for those visiting our house for the first time. About a year later, we contracted Fern to paint the bathroom vanity, and could not be happier with the result. She is one of the loveliest human beings I have ever met! She is really fast, affordable, and the paintings turn out exactly as planned. I can't wait to have another piece of our house painted by Fern - there is nothing she can't do!

I first became a fan of Ferns work after buying a couple of original pieces being shown in the 222 Market. I’ve been wanting to paint the outside of my floral studio with a mural for ages, and with Ferns whimsical, botanical style I knew she was the perfect person for the job. She was wonderful to work with from start to finish. Super communicative, easy to collaborate with, and incredibly fast. The finished mural is absolutely beautiful, and I’ve been getting so many compliments on it. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an artist. Not only is she incredibly talented, but she’s also professional, kind, and makes the whole process easy and enjoyable.
